Masciotra is a writer, a cultural critic and the author of
Working
On a Dream:
The
Progressive Political Vision of
Bruce Springsteen
(Continuum
Books).He
graduated from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois in 2007
with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, and has a Master's Degree
in English Studies and Communication from Valparaiso University.
Throughout 2007 and 2008, he wrote a weekly political column for the Herald News in Joliet, Illinois. His work has also appeared in several other Chicago area newspapers, and Z Magazine. On the web, he has written features for PopMatters, and occasional or single columns for Nerve, Common Dreams New Center, Pop and Politics, and PopPolitics. He prides himself on following unverifiable claim; He is the only writer to have been published in both the Catholic Worker and the Humanist.
His blog, Subtle Subversion, is hosted by True/Slant.
His first book, Working On a Dream: The Progressive Political Vision of Bruce Springsteen, will be published by Continuum Books in January of 2010.
David Masciotra believes in love, service, subtle subversion, and rock ‘n’ roll. He does not trust people who don’t like the Rolling Stones, and refuses to buy an I-Pod.
